India’s renewable energy transition is playing a pivotal role in strengthening the rural economy by enhancing farmers’ incomes, reducing irrigation costs, and promoting sustainable agricultural practices through solar energy and agrivoltaics. The article highlights key initiatives such as PM-KUSUM, solar irrigation pumps, rooftop solar, and emerging Agri-PV models that are enabling farmers to become active participants in India’s clean energy journey. Aligned with this vision, NSEFI continues to champion decentralized renewable energy and agrivoltaics through policy advocacy, stakeholder engagement, and collaborative platforms like the India Agrivoltaics Alliance, supporting a sustainable and energy-secure future for rural India.
