PM-KUSUM 2.0 to include 10 GW agrivoltaic component

PM-KUSUM 2.0 is set to strengthen India’s agricultural solar transition with the introduction of a dedicated 10 GW agrivoltaics component, enabling farmers to generate solar power while continuing cultivation on the same land. The announcement was made during the 4th National Agro-RE Summit, highlighting the growing national focus on integrating renewable energy with sustainable agriculture. The revamped scheme is expected to expand decentralized renewable energy deployment, promote dual land use, reduce irrigation costs, and create additional income opportunities for farmers through sustainable energy solutions. The development closely aligns with the vision of NSEFI in advancing agrivoltaics and rural energy resilience through policy advocacy, stakeholder collaboration, and initiatives such as the India Agrivoltaics Alliance. PM-KUSUM 2.0 is expected to play a significant role in accelerating India’s clean energy transition while empowering farmers to become both food and energy producers.
