Nagesh Sayam
With over 20 years of diverse experience in the Renewable Energy sector, encompassing Solar and Onshore & Offshore Wind, Mr. Nagesh Sayam has successfully led initiatives across Business Development, Strategy, Mergers & Acquisitions, Project Finance, Contract Negotiation, Valuation, Global Sales, Policy Advocacy, Asset Management, and Sustainability.
At present, Mr. Sayam is spearheading the renewable energy business of the GMR Group, building it from the ground up with a focus on accelerating the Group’s clean energy transition.
Over the course of his career, he has:
Led development, investment appraisal, and closure of over 5,500 MW of renewable energy projects — including 3,000 MW of Wind (USD 2.2 Bn) and 2,500 MW of Solar (USD 1.1 Bn) across India and global markets.
Conducted comprehensive evaluations of business proposals through financial modeling, risk assessment, due diligence, and scenario analysis across legal, tax, regulatory, financial, and technical domains.
Built and presented investment cases and growth strategy blueprints to Investment Committees and Boards.
Managed strategic partnerships and stakeholder relationships with government bodies, OEMs, EPCs, investors, and policy institutions.
Developed India’s Offshore Wind Strategy, led auction preparedness, and fostered a key international partnership with Equinor (formerly Statoil).
Led global market and sales strategy for solar modules across the US, Europe, and India.
Championed organization-wide strategic initiatives, including forensics of underperforming assets, AI & ML–based digitalization for asset performance enhancement, distressed asset acquisitions, forecasting and scheduling systems, and employee engagement programs.
A true global professional, Mr. Sayam has travelled across all seven continents and 38 countries for business, partnerships, and sustainability missions.
He was also selected to represent CLP Group in an exclusive 18-day International Sustainability Leadership Program and Expedition to Antarctica—300 miles short of the Geographic South Pole—marking a milestone in his sustainability journey.
Additionally, he played a pivotal role in redefining the Vision and Mission statements for the CLP Group and contributed to shaping its Sustainability Framework.
