Role Overview:
The Associate - Rooftop: Finance & Modelling will support NSEFI’s efforts to accelerate rooftop solar adoption in India by providing financial analysis, project modelling, and strategic insights. The role involves a combination of technical, financial, and stakeholder engagement responsibilities to aid in the deployment of rooftop solar systems across various sectors.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Modelling & Analysis
Develop, update, and maintain financial models for rooftop solar projects, incorporating variables such as capital expenditure, operational expenses, financing options, tariffs, and incentives.
Conduct sensitivity analyses to evaluate project viability under different scenarios (e.g., changes in policy, tariffs, or market conditions).
Assess Return on Investment (ROI), Payback Period, Internal Rate of Return (IRR), and other financial metrics to provide recommendations for potential investors and stakeholders.
Market & Policy Research
Analyze market trends, policies, and regulations impacting the rooftop solar sector in India.
Stay updated on state and central government schemes, such as SRISTI, PM-KUSUM, and net metering policies, and assess their financial implications.
Study financial instruments (e.g., green bonds, subsidies, loans) that could support rooftop solar deployment.
Project Support
Evaluate proposals and feasibility reports to ensure alignment with financial objectives and risk management strategies.
Support tendering processes by providing cost estimations and financial analyses.
Stakeholder Engagement
Liaise with government bodies, financial institutions, and private stakeholders to promote rooftop solar adoption.
Represent NSEFI in meetings, workshops, and conferences, providing insights on financial and economic aspects of rooftop solar projects.
Reporting & Documentation
Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and dashboards for internal and external stakeholders, summarizing project performance and financial insights.
Contribute to research publications, white papers, and case studies on the rooftop solar sector.
Qualifications & Skills
Education
Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Renewable Energy, or a related field. An MBA in renewable energy or equivalent is preferred.
Experience
2-3 years of experience in financial modelling, renewable energy, or project finance, preferably in the solar energy sector.
Familiarity with rooftop solar projects, policies, and financial instruments in India.
Technical Skills
Proficiency in financial modelling tools and software such as Excel, VBA, or financial modelling platforms.
Knowledge of renewable energy systems, power purchase agreements (PPAs), and tariff structures.
Familiarity with software like PVSyst, PVSol for basic solar project analysis is a plus.
Other Skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to diverse audiences.
Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and manage multiple stakeholders.
