Role Overview
NSEFI is seeking a highly motivated Policy Intern to support our policy research and advocacy initiatives. The intern will assist in shaping and driving strategies to promote solar energy adoption in India by engaging with government bodies, stakeholders, and the renewable energy community. This role is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the renewable energy policy landscape and make a tangible impact on India's clean energy future.
Key Responsibilities

Policy Research and Analysis:
- Conduct in-depth research on government policies, regulations, and incentives affecting solar energy in India.
- Analyze policies related to renewable energy (RE) at national and state levels, identifying barriers and opportunities for growth.

Advocacy Support:
- Assist in preparing policy briefs, white papers, and recommendations for submission to government departments and agencies.
- Monitor policy developments and provide updates to the team and stakeholders.

Stakeholder Engagement:
- Support outreach efforts with government officials, industry leaders, and other stakeholders to drive policy advocacy.
- Help organize and participate in stakeholder meetings, workshops, and events.

Data Collection and Reporting:
- Collect, organize, and interpret data on solar energy deployment, tariffs, market trends, and financing mechanisms.
- Contribute to NSEFI’s periodic reports, publications, and newsletters.

Project Support:
- Assist in ongoing projects such as solar rooftop adoption, manufacturing localization, financing mechanisms, and solar-wind hybrid initiatives.
- Collaborate with internal teams and partners on program implementation.
Qualifications and Skills
Required:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Public Policy, Renewable Energy, Environmental Studies, Economics, Engineering, or related fields.
- Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into actionable insights.
- Passion for renewable energy and sustainability, with a keen interest in policy and advocacy.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and proficiency in drafting reports, presentations, and policy briefs.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic data visualization tools.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with India’s renewable energy policies and the broader energy ecosystem.
- Prior internship or work experience in public policy, energy, or related fields.
- Knowledge of regulatory and financing mechanisms impacting the solar sector in India.
