The National Solar Energy Federation of India (NSEFI) organized the 1st India Solar Manufacturing Summit, a transformative platform fostering dialogue and collaboration to catapult India as a global leader in solar manufacturing. The summit was held against the backdrop of visionary Production Linked Investment (PLI) schemes totaling 24,000 Crore Rupees, heralds a new era in India's solar landscape, envisioning unparalleled growth and self-reliance in the sector. The summit had dignateries from across the solar spectrum, converging to explore the strategic imperatives of high-efficiency cell manufacturing, pivotal to India's ascent in the global solar arena. The summit also became a centre stage for the unveiling of the report "PV Supply Chain Resilience & Sustainability," a collaborative endeavor under the EU-India Clean Energy & Climate Partnership Project, offering invaluable insights into the resilience of PV manufacturing value chains. Honorable Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy, Chemicals, and Fertilizers, Shri Bhagwanth Khuba Ji, graced the summit as Chief Guest, Commenting upon the strategic significance of India's solar manufacturing sector in driving economic growth, promoting sustainable development, and realizing the nation's ambitious renewable energy targets. Emphasizing the pivotal role of solar manufacturing in India's journey towards self-reliance and its commitment to global climate action, Shri Khuba Ji, highlighted the government's unwavering support through initiatives like "Make in India" and tax incentives, fostering a conducive environment for industry growth. The industry's collective statement highlighted during the summit was the impending need for a sustainable and competitive PV power ecosystem, stressing upon the coordinated efforts among stakeholders to streamline clearances, invest in R&D, and bolster domestic supply chains, training centers, and certifying labs. The summit featured three insightful roundtable discussions, moderated by industry stalwarts, delving into strategies to accelerate India's solar manufacturing ecosystem, shape the future workforce, and fortify the PV supply chain, reaffirming India's commitment to sustainable development and global leadership in solar manufacturing.
